What this is
Snugroom creates a shared digital room for in-person gatherings. You scan a QR code, join in your browser, and see the other people in the same room. There is no account and no login.
What we collect
- Profile info you enter: your name, an optional short bio, and any social handles or links you choose to add.
- An optional selfie: if you add one when joining a room, we resize it to a small square image and store it.
- An identity cookie: a random ID stored in your browser so we can recognise your profile and keep you as the host of rooms you create. It's specific to this browser โ clearing it or switching devices means a new identity. (If you paid for a room, you can recover host access by email.) It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Payment details (paid rooms only): larger rooms are a one-time payment handled by our payment provider, Polar, who acts as the merchant of record โ they process your card and we never see or store card details. We keep the email you paid with and a payment reference, used for receipts and to restore your host access if you lose it.
- Basic usage counts: aggregate, non-identifying counts such as how many rooms are created, joins, and handle taps, used to understand whether the product works.
Who can see your info
Your name, bio, handles, and selfie are visible only to other people who have joined the same room. Selfies are stored in private cloud storage and served only to members of the room they belong to โ access is checked on every request.
How long we keep it
Rooms are open for 24 hours after they're created. Once a room expires, the selfies uploaded for that room are automatically deleted from storage. Your profile (name, bio, handles) is kept so your past rooms remain in your history and you don't have to re-enter it next time.
Your choices
You can edit or clear your name, bio, handles, and photo at any time from your profile. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the address below and we'll remove it.
